FRP or fiber reinforced plastic is the best composite material used to manufacture manhole covers. It has elements such as unsaturated polyester resin, glass fiber, quartz, and two different types of additives. Compared to BMC or SMC covers, the method of manufacturing them is fast and complex.FRP manhole covers have a good surface, are wear-resistant, and have a very high load-bearing capacity.GRP manhole covers, glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) manhole covers are strong, lightweight, corrosion-resistant, non-thermal and non-conductive and require little maintenance.GRP has unique properties that make it suitable for a variety of product applications.
BMC and Bulk Molding Compounds are composite materials used to create BMC covers. The components used to make these covers include unsaturated polyester resins, glass fibers, calcium carbonate, trays and steel rods. The manufacturing method for this type of cover is very simple and inexpensive. The advantage of BMC covers is that they have a smooth surface and a uniform color similar to plastic. However, the negative cutting capacity of these covers is on the lower side and they are also easy to rub.
SMC or Sheet Molding Compound is another composite material used to synthesize SMC covers. The elements used to make these covers include unsaturated polyester resins, glass fibers, calcium carbonate, trays and a few additives. The production method for SMC covers is slightly more complex and costly than that for BMC covers.SMC covers have a smooth surface and BMC covers have a better load carrying capacity. However, just like BMC, they are also susceptible to friction.
